SHELTER, In the works for over four years, Lucky Michael's book SHELTER, makes its debut on December 15, 2007 at Exit Art Gallery, 475 10th Avenue, in Manhattan. SHELTER is an ambitious photo-epic that combines Michaels' unique photographic exploration of homeless LGBTQ youth in New York City and powerful interviews and narratives of the residents of Sylvia's Place. As a participant observer, Michaels followed the residents and photographed the youth in their vibrant environment, capturing the moments that tell their stories.
